(MENAFN) Russia is reviewing the principles of the global economic system, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said Thursday.
In his opening announcement at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in the Kazakh capital Astana, Putin mentioned that the current global financial system allows the planet’s “golden billion” to live at the expense of others.
Saying Asia is a region where new centers of power are emerging, Putin stressed that the continent has a vital role to play in the transition to a multipolar world order. “It is necessary to remove all barriers to supply chains around the world,” he also mentioned.
Putin also highlighted his country’s attempts to form an equal and inseparable security system.
He highlighted the threats of famine and large-scale shocks at odds with the context of volatile energy and food costs around the world.
The Russian president visited Astana on Wednesday and is expected to hold numerous trilateral and bilateral talks.
