The New Economic System Discussed at the UEE Forum
May 27, 2022 (EIRNS) — There is a need to discuss the development of an independent monetary system in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Mikhail Myasnikovich during the plenary session of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, the Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA) reported.
“In my opinion, not only trade and payments in national currencies should be on our agenda. We need to discuss building an independent monetary system, an independent monetary system,” Myasnikovich said. “The world is changing rapidly. A qualitatively new system of axes, priorities and values in international economic, political and humanitarian relations is taking shape.
Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko stressed that pioneering technologies are crucial for future economic and industrial integration in the EAEU, during a panel discussion at the Eurasian Economic Forum. Petrishenko suggested evaluating the effectiveness of the Eurasian technology platforms needed to introduce advanced technology into production. This is particularly relevant in the context of ongoing work on a strategic science and technology development program for the EAEU.
“For example, Belarus has great skills in optics and microelectronics. These two sectors served as a springboard for the development of Belarusian space industry. Therefore, we have actively supported the interstate program for the production and supply of spatial and geographic information products based on remote sensing of the Earth. This will allow our companies to integrate into joint UEE R&D projects. »
