PUTRAJAYA: The economic sector is encouraged to return to normal functioning as the country now enters the recovery phase, said Health Director General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Nevertheless, he pointed out that there are among them conditions attached to the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Ministry of Health (MOH).
He said that among SOPs, body temperature control, ensuring sufficient space for workers and no gathering allowed, while the practice of social distancing as well as good hygiene such as frequent hand washing or l Use of disinfectant should be adopted by all.
“These are the new standards that we want Malaysians to practice and not just during the Movement Control Order (MCO) but also after the MCO,” he said at the daily Covid press conference yesterday. -19.
He was commenting on the government’s decision on all economic sectors allowed to operate during the MCO, to operate at full capacity without restrictions.
The move was announced today by Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
When asked if the SOP has been prepared for all sectors, including construction and manufacturing that are part of the opening, Dr Noor Hisham said the SOP in place is for all departments.
âWe are opening in phases, priority is given to construction and large industries. Then we will slowly but surely open up the service sector, âhe added.
Developing further, Dr Noor Hisham said that the World Health Organization (WHO) had previously declared the public health emergency of international concern, based on three factors, namely death, infection and the economy.
âSo we see that Malaysia has all three factors. During the initial phase in mid-April, we expected the number of cases to increase significantly. At that point, we don’t know if there is an exponential surge, but it has not happened.
âThat week we were careful in our action. But now we are in the recovery phase and as such we could encourage the economic sector to function normally, âhe said. – Bernama
