PUTRAJAYA: The opening of the economic sector announced today by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin must be seen as a responsibility and not as a freedom that could be abused, said Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
He said adhering to standard operating procedure (SOP) to prevent Covid-19 should be the priority, in addition to ensuring that only consumers who have completed two doses of vaccination are allowed to enter company premises. .
Therefore, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) called on the community and traders to ensure that their family members and workers perform a full vaccination in addition to complying with the SOP for health, security, economic and commercial survival.
“The KPDNHEP is convinced that the mature and responsible attitude of the population would ensure that the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic improves,” he said in a statement.
The Prime Minister today announced the reopening of 11 types of economic activities in the trade and distribution sector as part of the first phase of the national recovery plan from tomorrow.
Nanta said the ministry welcomes the announcement and will ensure that relevant industry players comply with all stipulated orders except the requirement for KPDNHEP enforcement officers to perform daily monitoring and inspection starting tomorrow.
He said KPDNHEP had also reached out to all industry players through their associations and would offer advice to enable them to reopen their businesses. – Bernama
