KUALA LUMPUR: The government’s efforts in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic are starting to show their effectiveness when part of the economic sector is authorized to reopen as part of Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan (PPN).
PAS Youth Chief Information Officer Khairul Nadzir Helmi Azhar said the reopening of a section of the sector is due to a series of long-term plans by the government to scale up the immunization program to successfully reach more of 50 percent of the nation’s population with at least one dose yesterday.
“He is also seeing results based on statements from several healthcare workers and the decline in intensive care unit (ICU) admissions involving Malaysians.
“What was implemented by the government was no different from those implemented in the United Kingdom (UK) when the government stepped up vaccination to achieve collective immunity and the simultaneous opening of the economic sector in accordance to the increase in the vaccination rate among the population, “he said in a statement today.
Nadzir said the government’s efforts, which have been belittled by some, are now seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
“PAS Youth applauds all the efforts made by the government to deal with the pandemic. Reopening part of the economic sector would to some extent relieve small entrepreneurs such as car wash owners, hair salons as well as other stores that have leeway, to generate lost income due to of shutting down operations for so long.
“PAS Youth also hoped that the vaccination program continued to be scaled up, including through door-to-door vaccination proposals or the opening of drive-thru vaccination centers (PPV) to allow more to be vaccinated before October.” , did he declare.
In this regard, Nadzir said that PAS Youth calls on all parties, including politicians, private groups and NGOs, to focus on the success of the national recovery plan.
He warned, however, that government measures that are starting to bear fruit could be disrupted due to political strife and conflict. – Bernama
