Mosti empowers business sector to be more tech-driven

PUTRAJAYA (November 15): The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) has pledged to empower the country’s agriculture, manufacturing and service sectors to be more technology-based under the 12th Malaysian Plan (12MP).

Its Minister Datuk Seri, Dr Adham Baba, said the 12MP filing was at the right time to overcome the aftermath of Covid-19 by transforming several industries and strategic activities such as electricity and electronics as well as agriculture smart.

He said the Covid-19 pandemic had pushed humanity to adopt new technologies to support businesses and livelihoods during the economic crisis.

“In response to the impact of Covid-19, Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian family) will have to move forward with the automation and mechanization of the manufacturing process chain,” he said in his speech during of the twelfth plan: strengthen technology development and marketing webinar today.

Dr Adham said the key to enabling the company from being technology adopters to becoming technology developers was to focus on advanced technology development and application.

He said Mosti will play an important role in the 12MP to restore economic development and stability, and boost the country’s economic growth through science, technology and innovation (STI).

Dr Adham said Mosti will step up STI awareness initiatives to nurture science culture to ensure the future preparedness of tomorrow’s generation.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on September 27 tabled the 12MP, a five-year plan to transform Malaysia into a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable nation.

The 12MP highlights several key strategies driven under three themes and four policy enablers, including “Accelerating Technology Adoption and Innovation,” which will be championed by Mosti. – Bernama
