Jakarta (ANTARA) – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno is optimistic that the 22nd Jakarta International Crafts Fair (INACRAFT) 2022 will boost the creative economy sector in Indonesia.
“The local creative economic products are of as good quality as the imported products. It is our joint effort to revive the economy, especially through creative economic MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises),” the minister said at the Jakarta Conventional Center Senayan here on Wednesday.
The minister made the statement at the opening of INACRAFT 2022, Southeast Asia’s largest handicraft exhibition, which is being held at JCC Senayan from March 23 to 27 this year, the ministry said. Tourism and the Creative Economy in a press release.
Based on data from the Focus Economy Outlook 2020, the tourism and creative economy sector contributed Rs 1.1 trillion to Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2020.
Uno said his ministry will continue to help boost national economic growth by creating a good ecosystem for the development of creative economic players.
“The creative economy is an industry of the future that plays an important role in building the national economy. They are job creators and opening elements for the recovery of the popular economy. I support it so really,” he remarked.
This year, INACRAFT is promoting various handicrafts to encourage economic recovery and create job opportunities.
The ministry pavilion seeks to promote and market 16 selected brands of handicrafts.
Earlier, President Joko Widodo, in his opening remarks at the expo, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of INACRAFT 2022. He called on Indonesians to endorse national products.

“I invite people to love locally made products, especially handicrafts; this will advance our artisans, advance our MSMEs,” the president said.
The government canceled INACRAFT in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and held the event virtually in 2021.
This year’s event includes a virtual INACRAFT exhibition, INACRAFT Marketplace and INACRAFT x Tokopedia.
