BENIN CITY – The government of Edo State has said that the program, Data for Making Edo Great Again (MEGA), to collect data on socio-economic measures of the state will aid development planning and improve through hence the livelihoods of residents.
In a statement, Secretary of State Government Osarodion Ogie Esq. said the exercise is intended to collect critical data that would be used to identify the needs of individuals and communities and help prioritize development efforts to ensure comprehensive development.
âThe Data for Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) program is designed to provide the state with the information it needs to ensure that development is distributed evenly across the state. This helps ensure that we know not only where people live and what they do, but also what facilities are available in their communities and what is needed to provide them with a decent life.
âThe government under Governor Godwin Obaseki is people-centered. The government cares about people and their needs and is committed to meeting those needs. Although we may have anchored a number of our interventions on the available data, it is undeniable that there are changes in the communities.
âThere are new cities and new developments putting pressure on existing structures, so we are deploying our people to go into those communities and see what exactly is the situation. They need to collect the data, with which we would make sure that the planning is as relevant as possible to the current realities in the communities.
